To prevent Salvadorans from exposing themselves to crossing the street, the Ministry of Health and Public Works handed over the footbridge for hospital use only that connects the two buildings of the Benjamin Bloom Children’s Hospital.

“They risked their lives every time they crossed the six lanes of Los Héroes Boulevard on foot or in wheelchairs. To prevent them from being exposed to crossing the street, in this Government we have built an elevated structure solely for hospital use that interconnects the two buildings. Thus, they will be able to cross safely and comfortably”, indicated Public Works.

The walkway has LED lighting, mechanical ventilation, windows, stretcher covers, an elevator and emergency stairs, to make it easier for health personnel to provide the best care for children.

“Today is a very important day for us. For decades, the child patients at #HospitalBloom had to cross a six-lane street because the two buildings are separated,” said MOP Minister Romeo Herrera.

“Somehow it could create problems, not only for patients, but for all hospital staff. This is how it began with the intervention and construction of a walkway that is 156 meters long and that interconnects the two buildings of #HospitalBloom ”he added.
