New collaboration between Volvo and Epic Games

by time news

According to a new report, Volvo announced this week an intriguing collaboration with gaming company, Epic Games to use its Unreal Engine to help the automaker, design and develop its next-generation electric vehicles.
The Swedish carmaker plans to introduce photorealistic technology to cars to produce high-quality graphics inside the cabin. In addition, Volvo said they will use the Unreal Engine to develop special and easy-to-use interfaces, especially for its electric vehicles. This collaboration makes Volvo the first European carmaker to use Enriel’s graphics engine. This technology focuses primarily on the driver information module, one of the monitors inside the cabin, which will provide the driver with relevant information and information features.

The car company also wants to explore new boundaries for hosting and entertaining passengers in its vehicles. As is well known most electric vehicles (and not) come with relatively advanced computer systems. For example, in Tesla it is already possible to play computer games, even a number of titles that require quite a lot of ability from the hardware. Some screens are getting bigger, some are getting smaller – the industry is at a crossroads, as well as manufacturers that seem to be split in their preferences. Aside from the screen size, the quality of the graphics occupies a very important place with realistic simulations clearly preferred by the drivers and passengers. Animations and screen transitions are about to become parts and more which makes the electric car experience even more special. At least from what has been reported so far, Fortnite will not be available for wear in Volvo cars, it is not such a computer.

The results of this collaboration on Volvo’s new models will be seen after the company announces them over the coming year. Volo’s electric vehicle models are the first in the company’s big plan to move to electric-only production by 2030.
