June 2026 will bring a new set of Magic: The Gathering cards centered around Marvel Super Heroes, and, unlike the 2025 Spider-Man release, this one will include Commander precons—a hugely popular way to play the game.
Four Commander Decks are planned for the Marvel Super Heroes set, mirroring the approach taken with other “Universes Beyond” collaborations like The Lord of the Rings, Warhammer 40,000, and Final Fantasy. Each deck offers a unique strategic focus, as outlined on their packaging.

The decision to include Commander decks with the Marvel set is notable, as the Spider-Man release in 2025 did not receive the same treatment. It remains unclear whether this is a course correction by Wizards of the Coast, given Commander’s popularity, or if it was always the plan.
Collector’s Edition Decks Offer a Foil Finish

For players seeking a premium experience, Collector’s Edition Commander Decks are also available. These decks contain the same cards as the standard versions, but with a full foil treatment.
Due to their likely limited print run, similar to Collector Boosters, these foil decks are expected to command a higher price and are often favored by collectors.
A Resurgence in Commander Deck Releases
Commander precon releases slowed down in 2024, with the last two appearing in August’s Edge of Eternities set. Neither the Spider-Man nor Avatar: The Last Airbender sets included Commander decks.
However, Wizards of the Coast is now heavily investing in Commander precons. Lorwyn Eclipsed features two decks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has one, and Secrets of Strixhaven boasts a substantial five.
Adding the four Marvel Super Heroes decks to this lineup brings the total to 12 already planned for 2026, with more sets still on the horizon.
There were 13 Commander decks released throughout all of 2025, making 2026 a particularly robust year for fans looking for a convenient entry point into the format.
