New compact Tesla spotted in China? SUV looks like a mule

by time news

Elon Musk plans to reveal news to shareholders on March 1st and one of the most anticipated things is a “Tesla Compact”, a model that will be below the Model 3 and will be a product in the range of US$ 25,000.

However, the electric model is still shrouded in mystery, as it is not known exactly what it will look like, however, a flagrant one in China has been drawing attention for appearing to be Musk’s proposal.

In the images, a compact-medium sized crossover appeared carrying Model Y headlights and taillights, however, the bodywork itself is not exactly a new thing, indicating that this vehicle is a mule.

The bodywork has the same proportions and lines as the Mazda CX-3, thus not being Tesla’s definitive model, which would point to the use of the Japanese manufacturer’s shell to hide the base of the new American brand electric.

Was it really a Tesla? At first yes, since the model has red brake calipers with the American manufacturer’s brand, as well as huge wheels with low-profile tires, probably 21-inch rims.

As this is a project of great importance for Tesla, as it will go head to head with a competitive product, then hiding it under a Mazda CX-30 makes perfect sense.

Expected to have a high production volume, the Tesla Compact will have a good part of its production being made in China, as it will use lithium iron phosphate batteries, the famous LFP Blade of BYD origin.

With a lower production cost, the LFP will guarantee the Tesla Compact a good performance with an autonomy between 400 km and 500 km initially.

Still unnamed, some say the designation could be Model Q or Model 2, but really that should have an important meaning for Elon Musk.

In the current portfolio, the four main models are known as “S3XY”. Now it’s time to wait for March 1st.
