New construction permits grew by 0.53% in 2022

New construction management visas reached 108,895 units in 2022, 0.53% more than the previous year, when 108,318 visas were registered, according to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma).

The granting of visas stood at 9,925 units in December, the first drop after three months on the rise. In addition, the data for the last month of the year contracted by 11.27% compared to the new construction management permits for the same period of 2021.

Throughout 2022, 25,685 new construction visas were granted for single-family homes, 3.35% less than the previous year, and 83,101 units for block homes, 1.88% more than in 2021. In addition, the statistics del Mitma registered 109 new construction management permits for other types of buildings that are neither single-family homes nor in blocks, 39.7% less than the previous year.

The data corresponding only to December record 1,777 new construction permits for single-family homes, 14.36% less than in December 2021; 6,253 visas for block housing, 10.28% less; and 65 new construction management permits for other types of buildings, 17.72% less than in the same month of the previous year.

The statistics also show that the average area per home in December 2022 was 189 square meters in the case of single-family homes and 103.2 square meters for block homes. In other buildings, the average area was 88.3 square meters.
