New control tower of the Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima is delivered – Avion Revue Internacional

by time news

Within the framework of the expansion and remodeling project of the Jorge Chávez International Airport in the city of Lima, the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (Corpac) received the new control tower from the concessionaire Lima Airport Partners (LAP).

The 65-meter-high new structure has so far only been equipped with a series of communications equipment such as frequency equipment, recorders, as well as voice communication equipment used for communication between the tower and the pilot.

Likewise, the tower has already been equipped with air surveillance equipment such as the radar system.

Regarding the provision of the missing equipment, representatives of Corpac and LAP signed a document that allows aeronautical specialists to take over the administration of the new tower to advance with the installation of the aeronautical systems.

“The new airport is a reality and soon Peruvians and foreigners will enjoy world-class infrastructure. This is a sign and example of the work between the private sector and the State to give citizens the services they deserve”, commented the head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Paola Lazarte. It is expected that by 2025 the works of the new passenger terminal will be completed, which currently has a progress of 24% and where more than US$ 2 billion will be invested. The construction of the 180,000-square-meter passenger terminal will generate some 15,000 jobs and serve 37 million passengers a year, an important project for the operational increase of the airport, which is the main one in Peru.
