Investigations in Bogotá into the tragic case of the 14-year-old boy, who is accused of murdering his father and younger sister, and seriously injuring his mother, have revealed new and disturbing details. The tragedy occurred in the early hours of July 30 in the Bosques de Suba neighborhood.

One of the most shocking aspects that has come to light is that during the attack on his mother, Catherine Torres Velásquez, the teenager asked her for forgiveness while he attacked her. According to a preliminary report to which El Tiempo had access, the young man used a knife to injure his mother and, while doing so, he repeatedly said to her: “Mom, forgive me.” This disturbing detail shows a deep internal conflict and contradictory behavior during the attack.

Reports indicate that the mother, who suffered serious injuries and is recovering in hospital, is affected by both the physical wounds and the emotional trauma caused by the loss of her husband, Fabian Humberto Bueno, and her 7-year-old daughter at the hands of her own son. The situation has caused deep shock in the community and the family.

The account that the boy was asking his mother for forgiveness while attacking her adds an additional layer of complexity to the case. Investigators are looking into this behaviour to better understand the reasons behind the attack and the meaning of the plea for forgiveness.

The teenager was arrested at the scene and, despite his confession, the judicial process must continue to ensure that his rights are respected and the case is clarified. Testimonies from neighbours and security camera recordings are being reviewed to accurately reconstruct the events. In the meantime, the judge has imposed a preventive detention measure for the minor, which will be in force for the next four months, thus allowing the authorities to continue with the investigation and gather the necessary information to make decisions on the case.
