At the German Football League (DFL), a multi-headed solution is emerging in the search for a new management. According to information from the German Press Agency, this is the currently favored solution after the failed experiment with Donata Hopfen as sole responsible DFL boss.

A solution is being discussed with a managing director with Bundesliga expertise and one with marketing know-how. The latter would apply to Steffen Merkel, currently a member of the DFL management and responsible for TV rights. This Wednesday there should be a meeting of the supervisory board, about which the “kicker” had first reported, and the executive committee.

After leaving Hopfen at the end of last year, Oliver Leki (SC Freiburg) and Axel Hellmann (Eintracht Frankfurt) are currently managing the business on an interim basis, but this phase will end at the end of June. DFL supervisory board chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke recently announced that he would present a solution for the replacement of the DFL management in July. (dpa)
