In compliance with the agreements reached between the National Government and the bases of cargo and passenger transport, the Ministries of Mines and Energy, Transport, Labor, Interior, and Finance and Public Credit have announced that as of today, September 7, the price of a gallon of diesel (ACPM) will be $9.856. This adjustment is part of the negotiations that seek to mitigate the impact of fuel prices in the transport sector.

Between August 31 and September 6, the price of diesel fuel was set at $11,360, after a considerable increase in August that brought the price from $9,456. With the new adjustment, there is a net increase of $400 compared to the value prior to last month’s increase.

Commitments

The agreement signed by the Government and transport representatives establishes a gradual increase in the price of a gallon of ACPM of $800 before the end of 2024. The first increase of $400 will apply from September 7, and the second adjustment, also of $400, will take effect on December 1, 2024.

The agreement responds to the need to review and modify Resolution 40350 of August 29, 2024, issued by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance. This resolution had previously increased the price of diesel by $1.904, bringing the gallon to $11.360. Now, with the negotiation, price stability is assured for mass transportation systems and large consumers.

Distinction in prices

The Government has established two price scales for diesel: one aimed at the general public who use gas stations, which will see a gradual increase, and another aimed at large consumers who use more than 20,000 gallons per month. For this second group, which buys fuel directly from distributors, there is already a decree in force since June 24 that sets the full rate at the international price of diesel.

However, it is important to note that this decree does not apply to integrated mass transit systems, which will benefit from the adjusted rate of $9.856 per gallon.

The next increase of $400, scheduled for December 1will complete the increase commitment agreed for 2024, stabilizing the price of diesel and offering predictability to transporters for the end of the year.
