EP Petroecuador began a new drilling campaign in the Pucuna-Bloque 44 field of the Palo Azul Asset, located in the Sacha Canton, province of Orellana.
Starting this week, the drill begins mobilization and it is estimated that drilling will begin in the first days of April. Four type J and type S directional wells are planned to be drilled, with a production of 600 barrels of oil per day (BPPD) for each well.
The accumulated production will be 450 million barrels, which will add a total of 1.96 million barrels to hydrocarbon reserves over a period of nine years, with Oriente crude oil of 30 degrees API.
There are four development wells, two towards the Pucuna Sur Oeste structure and two within the Pucuna field. The main drilling target is Napo T, and the secondary ones: Basal Tena and Napo U.
The studies carried out included seismic interpretation, where the uplift of a structure to the South West of the Pucuna field was identified; For its delimitation, four drilling prospects were proposed based on seismic and structural criteria of the area.
Currently, the Palo Azul asset produces 8,550 BPPD, there are 57 producing wells and five reinjectors.
The data:
development well: It is drilled within an area with proven hydrocarbons from a field in commercial exploitation.
J type well: It is drilled when it is not possible to locate the surface drilling platform directly above the target or it is intended to use a multi-well platform.
S type well: is a well that requires the use of special tools or techniques to ensure that its trajectory contacts a given target in the subsurface, usually located far away from (as opposed to directly below|) the surface location of the well.
