Forum Europe – Analysis of the results of the Regional and Municipal Elections with Mr. José Juan Toharia and Mr. Pablo Alzugaray

MADRID, May 29. The president of Metroscopia, Juan José Toharia, said this Monday at the Europa Forum that the PSOE campaign for the elections on May 28 has been “catastrophic” and has not taken into account aspects such as the fact that a majority of Spaniards want dialogue and less ideology in public management.

This was stated by Toharia at an informative meeting organized by the Nueva Economía Forum in Madrid to analyze the results of 28-M, in which the electoral marketing expert and president of Ernest, Pablo Alzugaray, also participated.

The person in charge of Metroscopia opined that the PSOE campaign has been “catastrophic” and that it was a “mistake” by La Moncloa to pose the two weeks prior to the elections as a national debate and a “prelude” to the general elections.

In addition, he stressed that, in the face of the divisive approach put forward by Sánchez and his parliamentary partners, what the Spanish value in the polls is dialogue and the “type of leadership” of politicians such as the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno.

MANAGEMENT AGAINST ILLUSIONS

In this line, Alzugaray referred to the fact that he does not know if it was premeditated in the PSOE to raise a national-type campaign, but indicated that, once this happened, from the socialist formation “it was managed very badly.”

This electoral marketing expert also argued that “voting is always about the future” rather than about present management, referring to the fact that the socialist formation would have been wrong to have insisted on how it handled the covid-19 pandemic or inflation.

He also highlighted that the campaign slogan of the Socialists “Defend what you think” has ended up being a mobilizer for the right, since, in his opinion, the voters of this political spectrum have spoken out against the ideological approaches of Sánchez and his partners.
