There are reports that a new rule will soon be implemented in India regarding vehicle emissions. As of now, BS6 rules are in force. For more details on what the new rule is, check out this post.

As of now in India, BS 6 (Bharat Stage 6) emission regulations are in force. There are reports that BS 7 (Bharat Stage 7) will be implemented at this stage. Recently the European Union gave its approval to the Euro emission regulation 7.

According to reports, it is pending approval by the European Parliament. It is said that it will be available soon. As a result of this, the pollution emission rule similar to the Euro 7 emission rule is being introduced in India as well.

Details of the new rules will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union following approval by the European Parliament and Council Presidents. The new emissions rules will come into effect across the EU within 20 days of its launch.

New rules similar to this standard are also being implemented in India. But, as of now, it is a question mark as to when this will take place. At the same time, it is expected that the new emission norms may be implemented in India soon.

The current central government is acting as a government that is very concerned about air and vehicular pollution. Based on this, FAME project has been introduced in India. It is a scheme brought against polluting petrol and diesel vehicles

To be more specific, FAM is a scheme brought to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country. It may be noted that the 2nd phase of this will be completed by 31st March 2024. The next phase or policy for new electric vehicles is expected to be released soon.

But the when has not been announced yet. The price of electric vehicles in the country has been reduced many times due to the FAM scheme. It is offering subsidies and other special incentives for electric vehicles through this scheme.

Apart from this, the government is waging an undeclared war on petrol and diesel vehicles to reduce air pollution. On the basis of this, it is expected that BS7, which is equivalent to the new Euro 7 emission norms, will be introduced in India soon.

It is worth noting that Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking to the media last year, had stressed that “India and the vehicle manufacturers should start preparing for the new generation of emission norms soon”. So it is expected that the PS7 will be launched in India within the next few months after the launch of Euro7 in Europe.

DriveSpark Comment: Vehicle prices may increase slightly if new emission norms are implemented. The new rule may increase the cost of manufacturing vehicles. In order to reduce this burden, automakers pass on the cost burden to consumers. So the new rule is expected to be good for the environment and difficult for consumers.
