Starting at 00:00 on Friday, July 12, 2024, the prices of Super, Extra and Ecopaís gasoline will change in Ecuador.
This change is part of the price stabilization scheme that was already applied to Super gasoline and now, by decree of President Daniel Noboa, it is extended to Extra and Ecopaís gasoline.
The new scheme for Extra and Ecopaís gasoline will be implemented in two phases in the automotive segment.
The first phase has already been implemented with the elimination of the subsidy, resulting in an initial price increase from USD 2,465 to USD 2,722.
This price was established with the entry into force of Decree 308, signed on June 26 by President Noboa, and set the new value from Friday, June 28, 2024 to Thursday, July 11, 2024.
The second phase of the scheme, known as the band system, will be implemented from July 12 and will be valid for one month, until August 11, 2024.
Under this system, the price of Extra and Ecopaís gasoline may increase or decrease. The Decree stipulates that each month, the price may not rise more than 5% or fall more than 10% compared to the price of the previous month.
This measure seeks to stabilize fuel prices in the country, allowing controlled fluctuations to avoid large variations that affect consumers, they say.
