KFord has had one model in its range for a longer period of time: the small Fiesta has been rolling off the production line in Cologne since 1976, in the eighth generation since 2017. The Fiesta 8 is being thoroughly revised, it is now better networked, all versions have LED headlights and a large, digital one 12 inch instrument panel. The sporty Fiesta ST, which is only available as a two-door model, is also being lifted.
Diesel engines have been deleted from the range since 2020; the basic power unit is a 1.1-liter engine with 75 hp, combined with a manual five-speed gearshift. A three-cylinder engine with a displacement of just one liter has 100 hp and a six-speed gearbox. This three-cylinder, then called Ecoboost, can also be equipped with electrical assistance and a belt-driven starter generator. The power increases to 125 or even 155 hp. That is not little for a four-meter-long small car. Only the 125 hp version can be combined with an automated seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The standard start-stop system switches the engine off at speeds below 25 km / h, even if a gear is still engaged.
The fifth engine variant belongs exclusively to the ST. Three cylinders together offer 1.5 liters of displacement and exactly 200 hp. The maximum torque has been increased by ten percent to 320 Newton meters, the top speed is 230 km / h.

Facelift for the nimble Fiesta
One of the most noticeable changes to the design is the redesigned bonnet, which is now higher and creates space for a larger grille. As before, the little Cologne will be offered in different equipment lines. The basic version is called Trend and costs at least 14,600 euros, for “Cool & Connect” you then have to pay 16,550 euros. The Titanium, Active and ST-Line versions have even more features. They differ more than ever with their own design elements. The new Fiesta will be launched in early 2022.
