Router manufacturer AVM has released FritzOS 8.0.2 for some of its models. The update primarily brings new security features.

Manufacturer AVM has provided a new update for some Fritzbox models. Specifically, it is FritzOS version 8.0.2, which is currently being distributed, as the manufacturer reports.

These models will receive the update:

According to AVM, the new firmware version will bring numerous improvements. Among other things, the stability of telephone calls has been increased.

And further: “Sometimes emails were sent via the push service or MyFRITZ!Net with empty registration information.” The problem has also been resolved, it is said.

As the manufacturer reports, the security functions are also improved with every new FritzOS update. AVM therefore advises “basically to carry out the update for all devices”.

Just a few weeks ago the manufacturer released FritzOS 8.1. Although this wasn’t a major version jump, the new software still brought with it almost 60 improvements.

The new features included:

The new updates arrive directly on the device without you having to do anything if the recommended auto-update function is activated. If not, call up the user interface using the address “fritz.box” (without quotation) and click on “Search for new FRITZ!OS” or “Start update” under “System/Update”.
