New from Dell: a rugged tablet and a foldable mouse

by time news

Summary

Dell announced two new products: a rugged tablet with a light weight and 20 hours of battery life, and an easy-to-carry foldable mouse for people on the go

In the shadow of Microsoft’s announcements with the new hardware products for Surface, Dell also held its own big technology conference about two weeks ago, and announced some new and interesting products.

First the company announced the Latitude 7230, which is a rugged tablet. Rugged tablets are an interesting category that doesn’t get too much attention, which is a shame – because these are devices that will last you for years, and are designed for extreme conditions. They are good and especially intended for people who work in environments full of dust and other risks such as construction sites, or for travelers who want a computer with them that will survive the conditions of the terrain they reach.

The Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme Tablet has a size of 12 inches and a relatively light weight of 1.27 kg (mostly rugged tablets are relatively heavy scoundrels), with 12th generation Intel processors, and a brightness of 1200 nits – which means that it is completely readable even in direct sunlight .

On the durability side, it meets the IP65 standard against water and dust, is resistant to falls from a height of 1.2 meters and can withstand extreme temperatures of minus 28 degrees if you want to travel with it to the pole, and up to 62 degrees Celsius if you are planning a trip to the Sahara.

In terms of portability and interface, it comes with an infrared camera that supports Windows Hello, a fingerprint reader and a smart card reader alongside a removable SSD drive. In terms of connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 6E support and GPS and WWAN connections. It has 20 hours of battery life, thanks to a double battery, and a really cute part is the ability to replace the batteries with a “hot swap”, that is, without having to turn off the device. It will be marketed worldwide and in Israel by the end of the year, but its price has not yet been determined.

Folding mouse

For those who remember, Microsoft used to have a foldable mouse called Arc. Now Dell is putting folding mice back in bags, with a twist (did you see what we did there?) of a new folding mouse with a twist. God-Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse MS700 Folds to a flat carrying position, and weighs only 56 grams. According to the company, it was developed with mobile workers in mind.

It supports Bluetooth 5.0, and multiple devices, and similar to Logitech mice – it also connects to up to three devices at the same time. Its sensor is an LED sensor with a resolution of 400 DPI, and a battery life of two years. It is designed in black with a silver base, and its price will be NIS 250, which is quite an attractive price for a mouse with these features. The sale in Israel will start tomorrow, election day, November 1.
