¡Heat wave in Mexico City! Starting this Saturday, April 13, a heat wave begins that will last until Wednesday April 17reported the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIPC).
According to the capital government, very hot temperatures are expected, with daily maximum values of between 28 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius.
The SGIPC reported that mostly clear skies are forecast, without rain, a high UV radiation index, a high concentration of pollutants and some gusts of wind with dust devils.
Civil Protection recommended that the population not expose themselves to the sun for long periods of time, stay in cool and ventilated places and use sunscreen.
Also, drink plenty of fluids; avoid eating in public, because food decomposes quickly; Wear light, light-colored clothing, use sunglasses, an umbrella, a hat and/or cap, and pay attention to the people around you, especially babies, infants and older adults.
Ready for this Saturday: intense heat wave
The National Meteorological Service reported that an intense heat wave is expected for this Saturday in much of Mexico, with temperatures that could reach up to 45 degrees Celsius in states such as Colima, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit and Sinaloa.
In addition, a very hot environment is expected in various regions of the country, with maximum temperatures that will range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius in states such as Campeche, Chiapas, Coahuila, Nuevo León, among others.
The situation is worsened by the presence of extreme minimum temperatures in some mountainous areas, where frost and temperatures close to 0 degrees Celsius could be recorded. This situation will particularly affect the mountains of Chihuahua and Durango, as well as high areas of several states of the country.
Despite the heat, precipitation is also expected in some regions. Heavy rains are forecast in states such as Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca and Quintana Roo, while showers and even isolated rains are expected in other areas.
These conditions could bring temporary relief from the heat, but also create the risk of flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
In addition, an increase in wind speed is expected in various parts of the Mexican territory, with gusts that could exceed 60 km/h in some areas, especially in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. This situation could generate adverse conditions for maritime navigation and cause dust devils in exposed areas.
These meteorological conditions are the result of the interaction of various phenomena, such as cold front number 46 that is moving over the northwest of the country, the presence of a polar trough and the influence of the polar jet stream.
In addition, the low pressure channels in the interior of the country and the entry of humid air from the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea contribute to atmospheric instability.
In the Valley of Mexicoif andexpect a clear sky in the morning and variable cloudiness in the afternoon, with strong winds and possible dust devils. Temperatures will reach maximums of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius in Mexico City and from 26 to 28 degrees Celsius in Toluca, State of Mexico.
Given these adverse weather conditions, the population is recommended to take precautions, stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
