They are filing for annulment – What are they asking for?
The Union of Photographer Artists submits a request for annulment to the Council of State for the ministerial decisions concerning the issuance of the new identity cards.
The members of the Union argue that “with the contested decisions, the competent authorities (police departments) will now have the possibility to photograph the Citizens who come to issue or replace their police ID. That is, a purely commercial activity will now be included in the duties of police bodies, significantly burdening the (already insufficient) staff of police departments with commercial activity and they will forcefully take away an important part of the work of professional photographers, hitting hard”.
As protothema.gr reports, at the same time they note that “all the photographers’ investment infrastructure in the logistical infrastructure related to ID photos is affected, there is a risk of increasing unemployment as the staff of the photo studios become without a job, the payments to the public are severely affected due to a reduction or abolishing the material with the return of VAT and the photographers now and those coming from their studies to the profession lose a huge piece of commercial and artistic material”.
