New in the United and National health funds: an autonomous robot will carry the patients’ laboratory tests, as part of the work routine in the central laboratories. The robot will save manpower and streamline the work of the medical staff, who will now be able to free up their time for other tasks.

The X1 Pro model robot, manufactured by the leading Singaporean robotics company GS, independently transports thousands of test tubes and samples a day from the central sorting unit to the different sections of the laboratory, depending on the purpose of the test. The use of a robot makes it possible to automate the process of dispensing the test tubes, relieve the pharmacists of the tedious task, save costs and increase the overall output of the laboratory.

The robot is marketed and implemented exclusively by Robotize from “Mitovach”, the oldest technology company in Israel. The company also offers a variety of other robots for various needs in the industry such as robots for cleaning and disinfection, robots that serve as waiters in hotels, robots for errands in office towers and more.

The impact of robots on the healthcare system is already evident and in light of the manpower shortage, the use of technological solutions is increasing. As part of this trend, the HMOs are constantly looking for more and more solutions that will make it easier for the staff, and this is actually the first time in Israel that the HMOs integrate such a robot in the laboratory as an integral part of the work processes

GS’s X1 Pro robot is powered by SLAM technology that enables simultaneous localization and mapping and uses a unique brake system that ensures stability and transportation of objects without fear of falling. In addition, the robot is equipped with sensors that prevent it from encountering people and obstacles, as well as an AI algorithm that allows it to make autonomous decisions. The robot can work up to 20 hours without charging.

At the “Mohehad” HMO, the robot operates in the hematology and coagulation section in the central laboratory of the HMO in the city of Lod. More than 4,000 tests are performed every day in the laboratory. The robot helps move test tubes with samples from the main sorting center to the hematology and coagulation section. After unloading the trays, the robot returns independently to the sorting unit and waits to receive another cluster of samples for testing. The advantages of the robot are significant as it does not make mistakes and does not get tired. Due to the distance between the units and the large number of samples arriving at the laboratory throughout the day, this was a task that took a lot of time from the pharmacists.

The “Leumit” health fund also stated: “The use of 1X frees the employees from the need to wait for samples and transport them from place to place, and allows them to focus on their professional work. This greatly improves the efficiency of the employees as well as their satisfaction. The use of advanced technology in a variety of fields allows Leumit Laboratories to meet With a commitment to providing the highest quality results efficiently and quickly.”
