Apple announced its new tablet “iPad mini (A17 Pro)” on October 15 (local time). Pre-orders will start the same day in Japan, and it will go on sale from October 23rd. Direct sale prices (including all taxes) are as follows.

The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is equipped with the “A17 Pro” chipset.
The A17 Pro is the same chipset as the “iPhone 15 Pro” series announced in September 2023. It has a 6-core CPU (2 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores), a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine .
Apple claims to have improved CPU performance by 30% and graphics performance by 25% compared to the A15 Bionic installed in the iPad mini (6th generation).
Gaming features include hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which is four times faster than software-based ray tracing, as well as Dynamic Caching and hardware-accelerated mesh shading.
It also supports the AI function “Apple Intelligence,” which is to be available in Japanese next year.

The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is also compatible with the latest Apple Pencil Pro. The iPad mini (6th generation) was compatible with Apple Pencil (2nd generation).
However, it still supports Apple Pencil (USB-C).
With Apple Pencil Pro, you can use “Squeeze” which shows a palette of tools by detecting a strong press with your finger, and “Barrel Roll,” which allows you to control tools by rotating Apple Pencil Pro.
Another feature of the Apple Pencil Pro is that it supports haptic feedback and the “Get” function.
Faster communication with Wi-Fi 6E. The SIM is an eSIM only
In terms of communication, the iPad mini (A17 Pro) supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The iPad mini (6th generation) supports upgraded specifications compared to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
On the other hand, in terms of communication, the iPad mini (A17 Pro) is only compatible with eSIM.
