New issue for AIADMK general body meeting

Chennai:

Suryamoorthy, a resident of Dindigul, had filed a case in the Chennai Licensing Court seeking annulment of the election, claiming that the AIADMK co-ordinator had conducted the election without following due process. While the case was pending, he filed an additional petition seeking an injunction against the general body meeting scheduled for the 23rd. That petition was dismissed.

Now that the next general body meeting has been announced for July 11, Suryamoorthy has filed an additional petition in the Licensing Court.

In it, he said that the next general body meeting had been announced in violation of the High Court order and that O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palanisamy should be barred from convening the meeting as party executives were pending trial against the election. In the petition, Suriyamoorthy has mentioned O. Panneerselvam as the former treasurer and Edappadi Palanisamy as the former district secretary.

Judge Damodaran adjourned the hearing till July 4, directing O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palanisamy to reply by July 4.
