On the 10th, Channel A reported that the manager of New Jeans reported CEO Kim to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, claiming that Adore forcibly imprisoned him in the company and demanded that he hand over his laptop and personal cell phone.
The public complaint states that after luring the employee with suspicions of work, he suddenly gave him a standby order and demanded that he immediately return his laptop at home, and despite asking him to leave work, he was illegally detained for about 3 hours untill the laptop was returned. In addition, they forced me to submit my personal cell phone without any legal basis, backed up all work-related data online (company drive), and formatted the laptop as it onyl had personal data. they said they started an examination, saying they would use this as grounds for disciplinary action.
In response, Adore’s side told News 1, “Some time ago, an employee in charge of artist management contacted an advertiser directly and urged them to sign a contract directly between the artist and the brand, excluding the company.” The manager himself acknowledged that he had communicated in this way. “This is a serious maritime act that helps artists violate their exclusive contracts.”
“As a member of Adore, the manager in question must work to ensure that the exclusive contract signed between the company and the artist is smoothly implemented,” he said. “Under the exclusive contract, the artist is obligated to perform entertainment activities only through Adore.” “There is,” he said.
Adore said, “We immediately began an investigation and gave the manager in question ample possibility to explain, but he did not respond to the investigation by making false statements that contradicted clear evidence. As a result, we inevitably placed the employee on standby for work and placed him on standby for the company.” “He requested the return of his laptop, which was an asset. there was no act of coercion, such as illegal confinement, during this process. The company made several requests for interviews to give the manager an opportunity to explain himself, but the employee refused them all,” he refuted. .
At the same time, he said, “All data related to work performed by a member using a laptop, which is an asset of the company, must be returned without being arbitrarily deleted,” and “The manager in question received the laptop from someone only a few hours after being asked to submit the laptop. “It was submitted formatted to make it fully unrecoverable, and the manager made it unfeasible to confirm which data was deleted during the formatting process,” he said. “Adore plans to thoroughly investigate the truth and take necessary legal action.” He added.
Simultaneously occurring, Newgenes held an emergency press conference on the afternoon of November 28th, the deadline for responding to the certification of contents requested from Adore, and announced that it would leave Adore as the matters it requested to be corrected had not been improved, as of midnight on November 29th. It was declared that the exclusive contract would be terminated.
Accordingly, Adore announced on the 5th, “On December 3rd, we filed a lawsuit to the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract with New Genes to recieve legal confirmation that the exclusive contract remains valid.”
