Director Shin Woo-seok of Dolphin Kidnapping Group, who has directed music videos for the group New Jeans, said regarding his collaboration with Adore, “It seems like it will no longer be possible.”
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Director Shin Woo-seok posted on his social media account, “It seems that there has been a change in Adore’s policy since the management changed,” and expressed his position as such.
The new director explained, “Due to Adore’s request for deletion, the New Jeans music video and related videos and channels that Dolphin Kidnapping Group has worked on and uploaded, as well as videos scheduled to be uploaded in the future, cannot be released.”
He continued, “The Dolphin Kidnapping Group and Ban Hee-soo YouTube channels are operated primarily for the purpose of archiving our work as a portfolio, and do not generate a single cent of revenue.” He continued, “The videos and channels in question were produced voluntarily with the intention of creating good works for fans, and do not generate any revenue for the Dolphin Kidnapping Group.”
He then said, “However, all footage will be deleted and cannot be made public due to Adore’s changed position.”
The new director said, “I regret that I cannot keep the promises I made to the New Jeans kids on projects that I promised to do in the future,” and added, “I feel sorry for the staff who worked through the night for months, and most of all, for the fans who have been waiting.”
The Dolphin Kidnapping Group run by the new director has directed music videos for New Jeans’ “Ditto,” “OMG,” and “ETA.” Recently, the director’s cut of the “ETA” music video was released on their YouTube channel, but it was deleted today.
Meanwhile, Adore announced on the 27th of last month, “We held a board meeting and appointed Adore executive director Jooyoung Kim as the new CEO.” The new CEO, Jooyoung Kim, is an HR expert with experience in various industries and will be in charge of stabilizing Adore’s organization and reorganizing the company internally.
Adore’s side said, “Former CEO Min Hee-jin will step down from her position as CEO, but will retain her position as an inside director of Adore,” and “She will also continue to be in charge of producing New Jeans.”
However, former CEO Min’s side countered on the same day, saying, “This dismissal decision is an illegal decision that directly contradicts the shareholder agreement and the injunction prohibiting the exercise of voting rights,” and that it was a unilateral notification that they would put him in charge of producing work. In addition, they released an additional statement on the morning of the 30th of last month, claiming, “The contract period written in the work delegation agreement is only 2 months and 6 days.”
In response, an Adore official argued, “We sent the contract in accordance with the term of Director Min Hee-jin as an inside director,” and “If the term is extended, the contract will have to be renewed at that time. This is something that applies equally to all registered directors.”
