became the owner of 13th Federal Criminal Court of Curitiba
this month and will be responsible for analyzing the new processes of Operation Lava Jato
. He guaranteed that he will not allow the action to have an end point and guaranteed that it will not be based on political issues.
“The Lava Jato in my hand will not die, I will not be the official gravedigger of Lava Jato, under no circumstances. I do not accept this historic role”, he declared this Tuesday (28) in an interview for the paid channel CNN Brasil.
Eduardo reinforced that he will continue with a lot of work in the 13th Federal Criminal Court of Curitiba. Finally, he stated that Operation Lava Jato “is not dead” and will continue to seek to punish those responsible for the crime of corruption.
“We have a very large volume of audiences. I’m at a work pace that maybe people don’t imagine. This version was propagated, which does not correspond to the truth, that Lava Jato is dead. Lava Jato is not dead. We don’t want to sweep anything under the rug.”
Judge again denied donation to Lula
The judge again stated that he had not made any donations to Lula. On February 17, information emerged that Eduardo had donated R$13 to the PT candidate and R$40 to state deputy Ana Júlia Pires Ribeiro (PT-PR).
“There was no such donation. The press last week mentioned my alleged donation of R$13 to President Lula’s campaign. I checked extracts, there are no donations, and I have no ideological or party commitment. I didn’t have any kind of support or militancy, and I didn’t even vote in the last elections”, he reinforced.
To prove that he did not make any donations, the judge sent the TV channel a bank statement on September 25th. He guaranteed that he will not ask for any rectification with the TSE.
Appio was appointed to be a judge of the 13th Federal Court due to the criterion of seniority among magistrates who made themselves available to the vacancy left by Luiz Antonio Bonat.
