New areas of education and groups of areas of study have appeared on the list. Among them – “Informatics, Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence”, “Education and Pedagogical Sciences”, “Forestry and Forestry Technologies”. “Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering” and “Management, Operation and Infrastructure of Water Transport” are separated into separate groups.
“The current lists of specialties and directions were approved almost 10 years ago and, obviously, lagged behind the modern demands of the economy and the labor market,” commented the head of the Ministry of Education and Science Valery Falkov. – The world has switched to a different technological structure, every year there are new activities, new jobs. The IT industry, life sciences, robotics and other areas are rapidly developing.
What new areas will applicants be able to apply for in 2024? These are “Fundamental, Applied and Synthetic Biology”, “Medical Microbiology”, “Artificial Intelligence Systems”, “Technical Cybernetics and Informatics”, “Sociotechnological Support of National Security”, “Management of Special Information Technology Support”, “Engineering in Agribusiness” and others – in general, new specialties in the list make up 20 percent.
– I am sure that the adopted list will contribute to the development of university education in our country, – Alexander Chubaryan, chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education and Science, co-chairman of the Russian Historical Society, believes. – I am glad that the proposals of the educational and methodological association on history and archeology on the division in the list of history and philosophy were heard.
According to the dean of the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University. Lomonosov and the chairman of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association “Economics and Management”, Alexander Auzan, the new list, in particular, provides for the consolidation of areas of specialties, which allows you to combine fundamental training in broad areas of “Economics”, “Management”, “Business Informatics” , “State and municipal management” with the possibility of choosing individual trajectories of study. This makes university education more flexible.
– The new list is only the beginning of transformations, Auzan notes. – In the near future it will be necessary to develop new federal state educational standards.
Changes in the list will help students receive additional qualifications within the framework of basic professional educational programs and, for example, receive two qualifications at the same time.
How? For example, an applicant enters an enlarged group of specialties and directions “Biological Sciences”. After the basic part of the program has been completed, he has the right to choose several profiles, for example, biology and soil science, after which he will receive the qualifications “Bachelor of Biology”, “Bachelor of Soil Science”. A graduate is issued one diploma of higher education, but with an indication of these two qualifications and a list of all mastered disciplines.
– Students will be able to get a second additional profile without reducing the level of fundamentality and quality of education, – said Valery Falkov. – The ability to change their educational trajectory will give greater freedom to students, increase awareness of the choice of the direction of training and, as a result, make graduates more competitive.
