New measures in favor of purchasing power: a very variable impact depending on the situation

by time news

Inflation – at 6.1% in July over one year according to INSEE – is more than ever one of the major concerns of the French. And as recalled this Thursday morning on RTL the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, this “will continue to increase until the end of the year”.

To combat its effects, Parliament adopted this Thursday the second part of the measures in favor of purchasing power, which will have, with the amending finance bill, nuanced effects depending on the different situations.

Bérénice, cashier: 80.64 euros more per month

This 43-year-old cashier in Île-de-France, on minimum wage, is raising her two daughters, 11 and 17, on her own. With an average inflation of 4.3% between February and July, his monthly expenses increased by 50.20 euros (for a total of 1218.20 euros). She receives 272 euros in activity bonus, 132 euros in family allowances and 128 euros in housing assistance. On July 1, the first two are revalued by 4% and the APL by 3.5%: respectively, 10.88 euros, 5.28 euros and 4.48 euros more per month, a total of 20.64 euros .

Bérénice, who receives the minimum wage, will receive 1329 euros at the end of August, or 60 euros more than in February, when we met her, due to the revaluations that took place on May 1 and August 1. Bérénice therefore receives 80.64 euros more per month compared to an increase of 50.20 euros. To this must be added 200 euros of exceptional back-to-school aid, paid in September, and the savings of 138 euros made on November 15 thanks to the abolition of the audiovisual license fee.

Marie and Antoine, teachers: 134 euros more per month

Both teachers, they will benefit from the unfreezing of the index point for civil servants up to 3.5%. He earns 2000 euros per month, she 1850 euros. The revaluation will result in a monthly increase in their income of 134 euros. If we apply to their monthly expenses of 1858 euros an increase of 4.3% to reflect inflation from February to July, we obtain 79.80 euros. Marie and Antoine are therefore winners. Be careful, however, this calculation does not take into account the possible increase in their income tax.

Antoine, 25, baker: no salary support

With 2000 euros per month, this baker receives no help. But he can count on the fuel discount. While he uses 80 liters of diesel per month to get to work, he currently has to pay 149.60 euros (at 1.87 euros per litre). On September 1, the rebate will drop from 18 to 30 cents per litre. Enough to save 9.60 euros per month until October 31.
