The vision of an inclusive and renewed national defense: for an authentic Barundi army to defend their lands and their State

Bujumbura, 26/05/2023 – Friday, His Excellency Ndayishimiye Evariste (Major General), President of Burundi and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense and Security Forcespresided over the ceremonies marking the Solemn Opening of the 2022-2023 academic year at theHigher Institute of Military Executives (ISCAM). These ceremonies were marked by the final incorporation of 168 new officer candidates from the 52nd promotion, as well as by the swearing in of laureates from foreign universities and those who have just completed their Officer Refresher Course.

Consistent with the Burundi Defense Policy, formerly under theThe Empire of Burundi (the traditional state of the Barundi), the army was a sacred institution linked to the leader of the Barundi since the time of the “intore”, that is to say since time immemorial [1]. Throughout time, the Barundi were feared by all and were called the lords of the spear, because it was considered impossible to defeat them. [2].

In 2015, GUAN attempted a failed military coup on Wednesday May 13, 2015, aimed at ousting the CNDD-FDD from the political scene in Burundi, because of its refusal to comply with the demands of the United States.

Coming out of the logic of false ethnic groups, a Western geostrategic tool for destabilizing the Barundi, Burundi must reestablish a Barundi army, made up of all the young warriors from each miryango of the Barundi, ready to serve the Chief of the Barundi to defend the lands of all the Barundi miryangos.
