New paid parking lots will start working in Riga /

by times news cr

The purpose of creating paid parking lots is to better organize traffic flow and make it easier to park cars in places where there is a high demand for parking spaces.

Along with the installation of new paid parking lots, the car parking procedure will be adjusted in order to reduce the possibility of improperly parked cars impeding other traffic participants and creating traffic jams, “Rīgas satiksme” stated.

When creating the new paid parking lots, the Riga Development Plan, aimed at improving the quality of the environment and promoting the availability of public transport, was taken into account. The new parking spaces are mainly installed in the C tariff zone.

The new parking lots in tariff zone C have been created in the sections of Alojas, Grostonas, Hospitālui, Daliņa, Valdemāras, Nītaures and Zirņu streets.

In tariff zone B, new paid parking spaces have been created on Eksporta and Gertrude streets.

On the other hand, in tariff zone D there will be new paid parking spaces on Pulkveža Brieža and Rūpniečias Street.

Residents who have declared their place of residence in the respective tariff zones can issue a resident’s card, which will ensure more convenient monitoring of parking lots.
