On her birthday, the Norwegian palace honored Mette-Marit with new photos. In them, the strains of the past few weeks are not noticeable.
The Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit celebrates her 51st birthday on August 19th. The Norwegian royal family congratulates her with a portrait on its Instagram account. Mette-Marit can be seen in a white outfit. Her blonde hair is styled in a middle parting and light waves. The wife of Crown Prince Haakon wears natural, subtle make-up and smiles relaxed.
Another photo from the series can be found on the royal website. In it, Mette-Marit is sitting with a dog on a striped couch with gold decorations. The palace writes: “Today, Her Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit turns 51.” She is beaming in this photo too. The past few weeks have not been particularly easy for the family.
Mette-Marit’s first-born son, Marius Borg Høiby, recently made negative headlines with a scandal involving an alarming incident involving a woman. He was arrested and accused of assault. Read more about it here.
Only a few days ago, he himself made a statement about the incident, which was published by the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, among others. “Last weekend, something happened that should never have happened. I committed physical assault and destroyed objects in an apartment while I was intoxicated with alcohol and cocaine after an argument,” the 27-year-old said.
Marius Borg Høiby comes from a previous relationship of Mette-Marit. The 51-year-old has been married to Crown Prince Haakon since 2001 and has two other children with him. Their daughter Ingrid Alexandra was born in early 2004, and their son Sverre Magnus in late 2005.
