Die Pokémon Company has announced a new mobile game, Pokémon Sleep. It shouldn’t just be about chasing and catching go little monsters, but on the subject of sleep.
According to advertising trailers, the sleep monitoring apps in the smartphones are to be linked to a mobile game.
“Your adventure takes place on a small island where you will study the sleep of Pokémon,” the makers say.
The player puts his mobile phone on the bedside table before going to bed. The next morning, depending on the depth of sleep and the duration, various Pokemon have accumulated in the app.
The longer a player sleeps, the higher their score – and the number of Pokémon that can be discovered on their island the next morning.
The Pokémon are then recorded in the so-called “Sleepdex” – a modification of the Pokédex in which the monsters already caught and seen are listed in the regular games.
Players should also be able to buy a kind of Pokemon alarm clock that sits on the player’s bedside table. Pokemon Pikachu will then give “cute” cues about when to go to bed and when to get up.
Pokémon had landed an international hit with its mobile game “Pokemon Go”: During the hype, players chased Pokemon creatures through the real world, which the game displayed on a map – which occasionally even led to traffic accidents.
Pokemon Sleep is set to be available worldwide next summer.
