New power station opens in Benghazi

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of the government assigned by the House of Representatives announced today, Thursday, “the opening of a new power station in the Al-Kuwaifiya area in Benghazi, in the presence of the Minister of Electricity, Awad Al-Badri, and a number of engineers and technicians.”

The ministry said, “The station has a voltage of (11-30 kV) and has been fully equipped to meet the increasing demand for electricity service in the region.”

She stressed that “the station underwent precise operational tests to ensure its ability to handle electrical loads effectively and to ensure the stability of its performance before putting it into service.”

The ministry said, “The new station will be a turning point in improving the performance of the electricity grid in the areas of Al-Kuwaifiya, Sidi Khalifa, Sidi Mansour, Bouhadi, and part of the North Coast region.”

She added that it “will contribute significantly to solving network bottlenecks, such as low voltage and fluctuating electrical current, and will also help distribute electrical loads more evenly, which will lead to reducing outages and improving the stability of the electrical current.”
