New pro-bear march today in Trento: “Stop culling and poaching” – News

TRENTO. There are hours to go until the new pro-bear procession, scheduled for today (Saturday 21 September) in Trento with a gathering in Piazza Duomo at 2 pm.

The activists of the Campagna StopCasteller announce that at the same time a dossier will be released that traces the last 10 years of plantigrade management in Trentino, with particular attention to the conduct of the Province.

“Ghost ordinances and decrees uploaded in the dead of night are just a few examples of President Fugatti’s modus operandi, which we have collected and documented in collaboration with the lawyer Paolo Letrari, a lawyer for LNDC Animal Protection – says Francesca Manzini, spokesperson for the campaign – the late communication of the findings and the fragmented, or totally absent, information on the autopsies of bears that were victims of poaching highlight the opacity of the council and the tacit consent to the so-called “private justice””.

«For some time now, institutions have ceased to be a bulwark of defense for protected species, such as wolves and bears, and have instead become their most bitter enemies: from Fugatti’s lightning culls to Minister Pichetto Fratin’s sterilization proposals, regulations are interpreted for the use and consumption of the lobbies of breeders and hunters and these species risk finding themselves, once again, on the brink of extinction soon».

“We return to the square once again with the dual purpose of exposing Fugatti’s sneaky political propaganda and reiterating a very simple ethical message: animal life also matters. The world is not our exclusive property, to be defended by killing. We must learn to live in harmony with the other species that inhabit it.”
