The Russian government has banned social networking sites operating in Ukraine from spreading anti-Russian messages.
Earlier, the Russian government enacted the Fake News Law.
Following this, the largest social networking sites, Twitter and Facebook, were banned in Russia. Also, the Russian state communications regulator Roskomnadzor announced that Instagram will be banned soon.
The government has issued a statement as a consolation to Russian Instagram users who were stunned at not being able to do so.
It was reported that the site will be sharing new photos and short videos created locally as an alternative to the Instagram site.
The announcement said, “Work is underway to design a new processor called Rosgram. This processor will be introduced for users on March 28th.
Russian users can touch all the activities on the Instagram site on Rosgram. The locally made rosegram will also have a revenue generating feature for the creators. ”
In this case, on March 14, Russia shut down Instagram, which is owned by the meta company. As a result, more than 8 crore users were affected. This caused a great deal of consternation among the users.
