New Programming on the AIC YouTube Channel

A AInternational Film Academy (AIC), through its new label – the AICinematic, which features exclusive content on its YouTube channel, has been publishing a series of exclusive content since April. The premiere program is A Caixa Preta (already available on the channel) and new programs will be launched throughout the year, with different audiovisual themes.

The Black Box is a videocast of interviews with directors, actresses, actors, film professionals, among other related areas, where the guests talk about their filmmaking or work related to the audiovisual sector, in addition to their experiences and their working methods. It is an in-depth look at language, creation and technique, and an opportunity to learn from the best professionals who come to AIC to share their experiences with an audience of students and those interested in audiovisual production.

Among the first interviewees are:

#1 A Atriz Maeve Jinkings who spoke about some of her fears, when young, of betting on an acting career and about preparing for her last character, in a delicate historical moment in which the country was living.

Maeve acted in some of the great successes of Brazilian cinema in recent years, such as: The sound aroundby Kleber Mendonça Filho, Plastic Love and Noise by Renata Pinheiro, Boi Neon by Gabriel Mascaro, Aquarius by Kleber Mendonça Filho, Sugar by Renata Pinheiro and Sergio Oliveira. With the short film Heartlesspremiered as Casting Trainer under the direction of Nara Normande and Tião, the film was in the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.

#2 Director Marco Dutra is in the second program and talks about the memory of when he watched his first horror film and about his process inside the set.

The director works in partnership with director Juliana Rojas, with whom he made the short The White Sheet in 2004, selected for the Cinéfondation at the Festival de Cannes, dedicated to school films. He is also a professor at the Academia Internacional de Cinema (AIC), at Escola Superior de Artes Célia Helena and at the University of the State of Amazonas. His works include “A Mãe” (2022), “Mataram Meu Irmão” (2013) and “Symphony of One Man Only” (2012).

#4 The director Jotagá talks about how disturbing the white sheet can be, his process of directing actors and crew.

Director and screenwriter trained in audiovisual by USP, he was one of the developers of series 3% in partnership with Boutique Filmes. He was director of the series O zoo there and is one of the creators of CineLabalso developed and scripted the series S.OS Fada Manu who was nominated for an Emmy Kids International, created, scripted and directed the series Extraordinary Experiments and was one of the creators of the animation Papaya Bull.

#5 AIC director, screenwriter and teacher, Lina Chamie he said that the most important thing in directing is finding the way to tell each story and sticking to that chosen way, and also that he prefers having coffee with the actors to get to know them, rather than doing a casting test.

Recognized for her sensitive treatment of urban dramas permeated by a humanist character in fiction, from which characters in crisis emerge, filmmaker Lina Chamie also transfers this look to the documentary genesis. Chamie has directed the following feature films: dominant tonic (2001); the milky way (2007), world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Official Selection of the “Critic’s Week”, with participation in more than 80 festivals around the world; Santos – 100 Years of Football Art (2012); Saint Sylvester (2013); The friends (2014), fiction feature film, awarded in Gramado and released in 2014, among others. His most recent film, KOBRA SELF PORTRAIT (2022), is a documentary feature film about Eduardo Kobra, an internationally renowned Brazilian graffiti artist and muralist.

The interviews are conducted by AIC professors, including Vanessa Prieto, Sabrina Greve, João Paulo Campos and AIC founder Steven Richter.

New Programs Coming Soon

In addition to A Caixa Preta, which is already on the air and has a new program released every Wednesday, the channel will bring other exclusive programs on audiovisual creation and market, appreciation and language of cinema, entertainment and educational content.
