QJ Motor goes ahead with the project to launch his first great superbike later this year. A few months ago, Chinese media already got some images of the new SRK 1000 RR, and now, thanks to the leak of the homologation data presented by QJ in China, we already know more details related to its power, weight and performance, in addition to have a picture of the final model.

The new SRK 1000 RR 2024 is the result of the collaboration agreement that QJ Motor signed with MV Agusta in 2020, before the historic Italian brand was absorbed -in part- by KTM. The deal reached between the Varese firm and the Asian giant Qianjiang included the exchange of technology and also the possibility for the Qianjiang Group to distribute some MV Agusta models in Chinese territory.

The first tangible result of this relationship came a year later, when MV introduced its Dakar Rally-inspired mid-displacement trail bike, the Lucky Explorer 5.5, equipped with a 554 cc engine manufactured by QJ Motor, like its tubular chassis. A model that, by the way, seems to have become stagnant, with no new news about its launch.

Qianjiang, for his part, took part of the technology used by MV Agusta in his Brutale 1000 RR and began development of his great superbike, the SRK 1000 RR, a model that will finally reach the Chinese market at the end of this year and that , possibly, land in Europe sometime in 2024either under QJ’s own brand or using another of the Qianjiang group’s brands, the Italian Benelli.

The SRK 1000 RR is a sports car that follows the latest aesthetic features of QJ Motor’s most racing range; its tubular steel trellis frame is identical to the one used by MV in its Brutale -declares a weight of 215 kilos with a full tank-, and the same happens with its four-cylinder engine, although with nuances. The SRK 1000 RR does not use the same engine as the Brutale 1000 RR, characterized by its 998 cc displacement and 208 horsepower. Instead, QJ has developed a more peaceful version and has slightly reduced its displacement to 921 cc, leaving its power at 125 hp at 10,500 rpm. according to the approval documents presented in China.

Curiously, at the last EICMA in Milan, MV Agusta presented a concept called the 921 S that anticipated the arrival of a future café-racer model powered by a 921 cc, 115-hp inline four-cylinder engine; This movement gives us to understand that, perhaps, Qianjiang will be responsible for supplying MV Agusta with this new engine in the future.

Returning to the SRK 1000 RR, in its cycle part we find many elements inherited from the Brutale 1000 RR such as its Marzocchi front fork fully adjustable or four-piston monobloc brake calipers made by Brembo, Stylema model. The documentation presented by QJ does not specify whether the motorcycle is equipped with the same piloting assistance systems as the Brutale, so we will have to wait for their presentation to find out in detail the electronic equipment that will be fitted as standard.

Everything indicates that the SRK 1000 RR will be presented in its local market during the last quarter of this year, starting its commercialization in China at the beginning of 2024. Its arrival in Europe is today a mystery, although the fact of equipping an engine that is adapted to the Euro5 regulations would greatly facilitate its landing in our market.
