Defense Minister René Merino Monroy reported that during the latest drug and weapons seizure a new record was achieved, carried out 1,004 nautical miles, equivalent to 1,859 kilometers, from the national coast.
“The Minister reported that the National Navy has achieved a new distance record with the latest seizure of drugs and weapons, carried out 1,004 nautical miles, equivalent to 1,859 kilometers, from the national coast,” the Ministry of Defense said.
The Minister highlighted the importance of the offshore seizure, which included a significant amount of weapons, including 12 AR-15 carbines, 20 AK-47 rifles, an M60 machine gun, a Barrett .50 sniper rifle, as well as numerous magazines and ammunition.
“As a Security Cabinet, we are very satisfied with the work we are doing. The combination of the capabilities of each institution is what allows us to maintain the security levels achieved in our country and contribute to the international community,” explained the Minister.
