The Russian Checkmate light tactical fighter will take off in 2023, said Yuri Slyusar, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). According to him, this will be exactly the prototype that was exhibited at the MAKS-2021 air show.

“The plane will fly in 2023. This is a sample, this is not just a model, not just a demonstrator. So he will rise into the air, “RIA Novosti quotes Slyusar. He added that static tests will be completed in less than a year.

Earlier, the general director of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said that the price of the fighter would be $ 25-30 million. The demand for Checkmate is estimated at 300 aircraft. The deadline for bringing the aircraft to the international market is 2025-2026, he noted.

The MAKS-2021 air show takes place from 20 to 25 July in Zhukovsky near Moscow.
