Quito, March 11, 2023

With this delivery, there are 141 thousand doses of rapid and intermediate action that arrived in Ecuador this week, guaranteeing the supply of this medicine during 2023.

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) continues to receive insulin for the care of diabetic patients. 70,848 vials of intermediate-acting insulin entered the National Vaccine Bank on March 11, 2023.

The doses correspond to the second delivery of a total of 212 thousand doses that are planned within the first quarter of 2023. They were purchased through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). They will be distributed to the 9 zonal coordinations of the MSP for the 24 provinces of the country.

The supply of this type of medicine is immersed in the National Comprehensive Diabetes Care Program, which allows the identification of risk factors for this disease, access to timely treatments, as well as monitoring and control of patients, reducing complications such as hospitalization and premature death from this disease.

The MSP executes this and other strategies for the adequate provision of medicines.
