New features and emojis for iPhone!
Apple will release the software version iOS 15.4 for its smartphones next week. It can be loaded on all models from the iPhone 6S (2015). The update brings a number of innovations.
► Face ID face recognition now also unlocks the iPhone when wearing a mouth and nose protector. The function must be activated once in the settings under “Face ID & Code”.
If the option “Face ID with mask” is switched on, Face ID only analyzes the eye area to identify the owner of the iPhone. Previously, mask wearers could only unlock their iPhones using face recognition if they were wearing an unlocked Apple Watch at the same time.
► With iOS 15.4, a whole bunch of new emojis landed on the iPhone. The Unicode Consortium had the small symbols last fall recommended. Now emojis are coming to iPhone, including a bunch of new smileys: a melting face, a wide-eyed face peering through its fingers, and another holding back its tears.
Alongside the smiley novelties will be various hand gestures, an x-ray, a disco ball, a gender-neutral person with a crown and a Added pregnant man to the emoji picker.
► Also new: After the update to iOS 15.4, the EU’s digital Covid certificate can be stored in the “Health” app in order to be able to prove one’s own vaccination status.
