A new study finds that drinking tea, coffee, and water may reduce the risk of early death in adults with type 2 diabetes by about 25 percent.
According to the American “CNN” network, the study analyzed the health and nutritional data of more than 15,000 adults with type 2 diabetes who were part of a large previous study in the United States that lasted for 18 years.
During the study period, the participants regularly answered questions about their consumption of different types of beverages: sugar-sweetened beverages, coffee, fruit juice, low-fat and whole milk, plain water and tea.
The study said that drinking a lot of sugar-sweetened drinks increases the risk of death from various causes by 20 percent, and the risk of heart disease by 25 percent and death due to it by 29 percent.
Research has previously shown that cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death for people with type 2 diabetes.

On the other hand, high consumption of coffee, tea, water, and low-fat milk was associated with significantly lower premature mortality.

According to the study, drinking coffee reduced the risk of premature death by 26 percent, while tea reduced this risk by 21 percent, plain water by 23 percent and low-fat milk by 12 percent.
Looking specifically at cardiovascular disease, the data showed that a higher intake of coffee was associated with an 18 percent lower risk of heart disease and the study found that drinking low-fat milk reduced the chances of heart disease by 12 percent.
The study was published yesterday (Wednesday) in the scientific journal “BMG”.
