Lürssen has delivered: With the “Norn” (IMO 9869758) Microsoft veteran and Word and Excel creator Charles Simonyi received his new yacht. The ship is currently moored off the Swedish coast near Björnö. The “Norn” can be seen as a logical further development of its predecessor, because it is very similar to the “Skat”. Both yachts were designed by Espen Oeino and both were built by Lürssen.
The old ship again – but newer and (much) more expensive

As far as the equipment is concerned, Simonyi has apparently created a kind of “Skat 2.0”. The ship is again based on the design of military ships and again offers a kind of glass cabin that offers a view of the sea.

And although the interior of the Hamburg design studio Dölker & Voges is supposed to be minimalistic, the “Norn” doesn’t do without luxury. “Luxury Launches” reports that the “Norn” should have a swimming pool with adjustable water depth, which can be converted into a dance floor. The ship should offer space for 16 guests, the crew should consist of 20 people.
Charles Simonyi is no stranger to the yachting world. The fortieth Microsoft employee began his career with the global corporation in 1981 and played a leading role in the development of several Office programs that are still used today in offices around the world. In 2022 he first left and founded a company called Intentional Software, which his former employer bought from him in 2017 and brought him back on board.
