The latest beta version of the Windows 11 operating system with build number 22635.3785 now allows you to drag apps from the Start menu and pin them to the taskbar, which was not available in previous versions. This was reported by Day.Az with reference to TechSpot. It is assumed that Microsoft will restore some functions in the updated Start menu after criticism from users.

The described feature was implemented only for applications located in the “All applications” section, and not for those pinned to the “Start” menu. The developers are also working on improving the animation when moving shortcuts.

However, the ability to pin folders to the taskbar is still missing, although many users find it convenient. Microsoft considers this feature to be niche and intended for power users.

The new build also changes the way the All apps list is presented. The traditional alphabetical list is back, arranged horizontally instead of vertically as before. Support for displaying folders has also been added to this list.

It looks like Microsoft is planning to give users more control over the appearance of the taskbar. The new options in the taskbar settings are not yet fully functional, but already indicate the ability to hide the notification bell icon or display only the clock without the current date.
