What unites Afonso Reis Cabral, Capicua, Margarida Pinto Correia, Rafael Gallo, and Selma Uamusse? All these names are part of the panel for “Cinco à Quinta”: a new program to listen to on Antena 1. Five distinct personalities, each in turn, will bring guests to think and reflect on the themes that resonate with us. Every Thursday, right after the news at 11 PM, unwind in this new space for sharing and ideas.
Rafael Gallo is not quite so serene yet. The author of “Dor Fantasma,” a novel awarded the José Saramago Literary Prize in 2022, admits to receiving the invitation with “a mix of surprise, fear, and excitement. I have never been on the side of presenting a program.” But the benefits and the desire to learn, he tells Antena 1, outweigh the initial intimidation: “On the other hand, it’s the perfect opportunity to talk to people I admire, to whom I would like to ask many things, so I’m excited.”
According to the sensitivity of each host, which we will get to know on the Antena 1 website over the coming weeks, Rafael Gallo is collecting “people connected to creative activities, to understand how they deal with it. Not only the creative process itself but what it means to ‘be’ someone whose life follows that direction.” He foresees that this energy could infect the very logic of “Cinco à Quinta”: it’s possible that it will also become “a process of ongoing creation, that transforms over the broadcasts.”
With the premiere episode, which he was in charge of, Rafael Gallo seized the opportunity for new learnings. The first guests are two successful podcast authors: Inês Maria Meneses, from the Antena 1 format “Fala com Ela,” and Raquel Marinho, from “O Poema Ensina a Cair.”
