Toyota Tacoma 2024: Design
Firstly, when we see it today, we can say that we met the new Tacoma just over a week ago, when an image leaked from the Toyota website.
As we saw at the time, it takes a lot of cues from the Tundra (Toyota’s full-size pickup truck in North America). But it maintains its own unique style. In fact, the exterior work could make us think that the truck has received a deep facelift, and not that this is its new generation.
Depending on the various versions released, the Tacoma grille is different. For example, in Access versions, chrome, but in TRD Pro and Trailhunter versions, it is black and adds the brand name.
The lights and air intakes on the sides of the grille are practically identical to those seen on the Pickup EV, a concept revealed by the brand more than a year ago, which debuted the brand’s new design language, at least in the world of “boring”.
The Tacoma is available with a two-tone roof, cargo box lighting, air compressor and 18” wheels (black or bronze). In addition, the tires on the off-road versions can be Goodyear 33”.
Toyota Tacoma 2024: Interior and equipment
Inside, the design language is typical of Toyota. The materials seem sturdy and of good quality. Depending on the version, different modifications to the instrument panel are chosen.
As for the multimedia system, the screen can be 8 or 14”, while the instrument panel is offered in 7 or 12.3”. At this stage, it’s no surprise that it has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, while sound is provided by a 10-speaker JBL system. It also has a wireless smartphone charger.
In terms of safety, the new Tacoma adds the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 assistance package, which features a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control at any speed, lane tracking, traffic sign reader, headlights automatic highs, etc.
Motor e tstrength
The new Tacoma’s powertrain lineup is quite extensive. Entry versions equipped with a 2.4 liter Turbo engine. Which produces 228 hp and 329 Nm and works with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A step up, the same engine rated at 270 hp and 420 Nm when combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, and up to 430 Nm with an automatic.
In top-of-the-line versions, the new Tacoma offers the i-Force Max hybrid system, which combines the power of the 2.4L Turbo engine with a 48 hp electric motor and a 1.9 kWh battery, providing a combined power of 326 hp and 630 Nm. That amount of torque makes it the most powerful midsize truck in North America, surpassing the Ford Ranger Raptor.
However, rear-wheel drive is standard on entry-level versions, with hybrid versions invariably featuring an all-wheel drive system with a center-locking differential. In addition, the new Tacoma has a towing capacity of up to 3,000 kg, while the payload is 775 kg.
