More newly minted unions, fewer political parties controlled by the regime.

Engrossed in their internal disputes, determined to negotiate with the regime and embarking on the failed electoral path, most of the Venezuelan political parties are totally isolated from the people. The lack of interest and support for the primary elections where they try to choose who will have the task of raising the arm of Nicolás Maduro next year should not be surprising.

These organizations that operate as patronage franchises continue to be engrossed in their own agenda, which is not that of Venezuelans. In essence these parties have given up leading the fight against the Chavista regime to instead try to cohabit with the regime.

The price they must pay to be admitted as an opposition officially recognized by the regime is to submit to the Chavista Constitution of 1999 and renounce any other way of participating in politics that is not electoral, conveniently controlled by Chavismo.

Here it is not even a question of suggesting de facto ways or alliances with military sectors to seek Chavismo’s exit from power. It is that for the false opposition the only conceivable form of struggle is reduced to negotiations and elections. Nothing else.

While they continue determined to negotiate with Chavismo and to participate in elections for which they themselves admit that there are no conditions or guarantees, Venezuela is falling apart. The miserable wages of 5 dollars in a brutally dollarized economy that is temporarily spared from inflation have created the new Chavista Venezuela where the majority is condemned to starve while the pro-government oligarchy and its false opposition partners live by looting what is left of the country. National Treasure.

The people have had no alternative but to channel their discontent through the unions and their union struggles and demands. And it is that no one else is protesting in Venezuela because the parties of the false opposition have been silenced with the arepa muzzle that the Chavista regime puts on them.

Although these mobilizations have collided with the reality of also having unions controlled and mediated by operators of both Chavismo and the false opposition that try to boycott the struggle from within. This is what has sparked the rise of new unions and guilds organized by people tired of the silence and betrayal of party-controlled scabs.

It is still an incipient effort that has to be matured by the experience and the precision in the fight objectives in the short and medium term. But even so, it is preferable to join forces to promote a new type of trade unionism than to follow the failed and unsuccessful strategies of the false opposition.

For some reason people are more interested in the specific issues that drive the protests such as wage increases, the mega-devaluation and the high cost of living, among many others, than they vote in the primaries of the false opposition.

Intuitively, the people in the street are showing the paths along which the struggle for political change in Venezuela should go. More newly minted unions, fewer political parties controlled by the regime.
