Flying in the snow
There are more and more people who see winter sports as a concept that has fallen out of time, like, say, smoking on long-haul planes or hunting big game in Africa. And unfortunately the critics have really good arguments such as a lack of snow, wasted energy and skyrocketing costs, to name just three of them.

But you quickly forget what a great pleasure it can be to move through the powder snow on skis or snowboards. That’s why we recommend at least leafing through the illustrated book “Powder”. He shows fantastic images from the snow-covered mountains of the world, from the European Alps, the Lofoten, Japan, the Karakoram, the Andes, California, Colorado and Alaska (picture on the right). It shows the world’s best winter sports athletes skiing elegantly and lightly through artistic snow formations or flying over them – and the aesthetics of the images deliberately conceal the icy cold, the steepness and the danger of avalanches.
