No Man’s Sky has received a massive update, which hides graphics settings for another console in the code of its PS5 version.
Eight years after its release, No Man’s Sky has received a major update that brings the game to version 5.0. And with it, we learn a little more about the PS5 Pro, or at least we hope to believe so.
The site Twistedvoxel has dug through the code of this new version and has discovered the word Trinity, a known code name for the PS5 Pro.
It appears in the game’s graphic settings featuring two modules: a GraphicsDetailPresetTrinity and a GraphicsDetailPresetPS5. It is hard not to see here the boosted version of the PS5.
And the graphic settings allow us to distinguish some of the visual improvements that this PS5 Pro could bring. We’re talking about a better resolution that could increase from 1300p to 1800p and graphical details shifted to Ultra instead of High.
Graphically, three times more powerful
According to rumors, the PS5 Pro is expected to be built around a new GPU based on RDNA 3 architecture and three times more powerful than that of the PS5 with 36 TFLOPS. However, Sony would retain the processor of the classic PS5 but operating at higher frequencies.
Overall, we would see the same difference as between the PS4 and the PS4 Pro. Enhanced resolution and likely the possibility of using ray tracing without sacrificing framerate via PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Sampling Resolution), a technique similar to Nvidia’s DLSS.
Finally, seeing the name of the PS5 Pro show up in a No Man’s Sky update can’t be a potential indicator of a near release, unless the developers at Hello Games have really anticipated the arrival of the PS5 Pro. As of the latest news, a presentation of this console was expected in the fall to coincide with the end-of-year holiday schedule.
