Bhopal: A new variant of Omikron has been discovered in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, amid concerns over the spread of Kovid in the country. An expert examination of 12 Kovid patients in Indore found new variants in six of them. All six are children.

Vinod Bhandari, chairman of the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, said the tests, which began on January 6, found 21 cases of BA2, a variant of Omicron. In six of these, a new variant of Omicron was discovered. This was found by evaluating the function of the lungs. Three of them are being treated at the hospital. The remaining 18 have been discharged from the hospital, Vinod Bhandari said. He said 15 of the 21 adults had received two doses of the vaccine.
