New York police seek to identify man in pajamas who jumped from the roof of a luxurious Manhattan hotel

Some celebrities have homes in the Deutsche Bank Center on Columbus Circle, Manhattan, raising intrigue among the building’s residents after a man jumped from the top of one of the roofs to his death.

Authorities are still working to identify the man who died in a building that also houses the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel and an upscale shopping mall.

The victim, who is believed to he is about 30 years old, jumped from the Deutsche Bank tower where the hotel is alsoon the north side of the building.

The subject launched himself through the canopy of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel before colliding with the concrete of the sidewalk minutes after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday night. He was wearing pajama bottoms, a graphic T-shirt, and slippers.according to officers at the scene.

On Saturday, nearby pedestrians saw the huge hole left by the man when he fell to his death.

“I’ve worked in this area for a good two years, that’s never happened before,” said Henry, 59, a construction worker.

The detectives handling the case assume that the victim entered the building through the cargo area and rode the freight elevator up to the rooftop level of the hotel tower, indicated a police source. Other sources pointed out that the man was not a hotel guest.

“A homeless person would not go through security,” said an employee at the building who preferred to remain anonymous.

Agents found a credit card in his pocket, with his name written on it and no photo.the police source stated.

Deutsche Bank Center residents include hip-hop singer Jay-Z, NFL quarterback Tom Brady and Joe Ricketts, the billionaire owner of the Chicago Cubs.

Apartments in this building can range from $5 million to $19 million.

Until 2021, the building was known as the Time Warner Center.
