New York Reserve Bank appoints Indian woman as vice-chairman

New York:

Sushmita Shukla, a woman of Indian origin, has been appointed as the vice president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, which is considered the most important of the 12 central reserve banks in the United States.

He has also been given the responsibility of Chief Operating Officer. 54-year-old Sushmita has experience in the insurance industry.

It is reported that Sushmita’s appointment has been approved by the Board of Governors of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and she will assume office in March next year (2023).

In a statement released by Sushmita, she said, “I am honored to have the opportunity to work in a mission-oriented organization like the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. I will use my experiences and lessons to improve the bank’s operations and provide the necessary leadership for the company’s growth.”
